Case study
60 m³/h Mine-Water RO Concentrate Softening and Silica Removal Project
This project treats reverse-osmosis concentrate within a mine-water treatment upgrade at a scale of 60 m³/h. Softening and silica-removal reactions are combined with PEK tubular membranes, followed by weak-acid cation exchange and nanofiltration salt separation.

Project overview
This project treats reverse-osmosis concentrate within a mine-water treatment upgrade at a scale of 60 m³/h. Softening and silica-removal reactions are combined with PEK tubular membranes, followed by weak-acid cation exchange and nanofiltration salt separation.
Plum’s scope of supply
Plum supplied the PEK tubular membrane system for this project. Downstream treatment stages in the overall project process were outside Plum’s scope of supply.
Process route
Softening and silica-removal reactions → PEK tubular membranes → weak-acid cation exchange → nanofiltration salt separation
Chemical softening and silica removal work with tubular membrane solid-liquid separation as the upstream section of the project’s concentrate treatment train.
