400 m³/d Integrated Membrane Processing for Xylo-Oligosaccharides

This 400 m³/d project processes enzymatic extract from steam-exploded corn cobs. The membrane system supports xylo-oligosaccharide production. Tubular UF removes proteins, starch and pectin; other stages provide NF desalting and monosaccharide separation, UF decolorization and high-pressure RO concentration of the monosaccharide stream.

Project overview

This 400 m³/d project processes enzymatic extract from steam-exploded corn cobs.

Membrane process

Tubular UF + NF desalting and monosaccharide separation + UF decolorization + RO concentration of the monosaccharide branch

Process roles

The membrane system supports xylo-oligosaccharide production. Tubular UF removes proteins, starch and pectin; other stages provide NF desalting and monosaccharide separation, UF decolorization and high-pressure RO concentration of the monosaccharide stream.
